Adium has long been one of the most stable apps that I use on a daily basis. Recently they released a new version and noticed pretty immediately that I was getting bounced off the Jabber server, then it would reconnect, over and over again. Of course, other people on the team also installed it. Situations like this are usually pretty simple: just rollback and wait for a bugfix. Well, in this case, rolling back did not solve the problem. Turns out that if there are people on your list that have the bum release, your instance will continue to disconnect/reconnect! The versions in question are 1.2.6 and 1.2.7. Apparently, they upgraded a core library and it‘s resulted in some XML parsing issues between nodes. Complete nightmare. We have switched over to using iChat for Jabber, but that‘s a pain because it doesn‘t support OTR.
Testing out the idea that if we get everyone up to the newest version it will fix it.
So far it looks like that might have fixed it….
