I've had my Nokia N800 for some time now and resisted buying an iPhone. Yesterday, I started reading "iPhone Open Application Development: Rough Cuts Version

By Jonathan A. Zdziarski". The iPhone bug has bitten again. It's such a beautiful thing, to begin with. The screen is tough and it has that Apple look and feel that we love so much. But, I'm frugal and I don't like having to cough up even more $ for my already outrageous cellphone bill. Ah, nevermind...It really only amounts to the cost of a burger and fries per month when you get right down to it. I love the N800, and it's community of Maemo operating system aficionados. Have you read "10 Ways The Nokia N800 Is Better Than Apple’s iPhone"? I like the webcam built into the N800, but support for videoconferencing using GoogleTalk is slim. There's a new-ish VOIP project called Gizmo that works on the N800.

"iPhone Open Application Development" describes iPhone software development using Objective-C. It unabashedly describes how to unlock the phone. If you can't open the device, you don't own the device.

A great article entitled "Who Needs the iPhone?

Programming Python on the Nokia N800”,
by Al Lukaszewski describes Python development on the N800.

Anybody hear when the Google Phone will be released?

You know, maybe I‘ll just head up to the Apple store at lunch and look at an iPhone...
