Following our recent encounter with Flex and ActionScript, I was excited when earlier this week a review copy of the yet-to-be-released
Programming Flex 3: The Comprehensive Guide to Creating Rich Internet Applications with Adobe Flex landed on my desk.
Having played around with Flex both on and off in the last couple of months, I thought this was a good and smooth transition or rather continuation in my quest to learn to program in Flex. But what has been an issue with learning Flex from a Java Developer stand point has been the relatively unavailable matter that shows how to easily develop applications that use both languages together effortlessly.
So, I was very happy when this book arrived! The review will be posted later once we've managed to get round to reading it. But if you can't wait and would like to get your hands on a copy, you will have to wait till late September when the books will be available in your local bookshops. In the mean time, here's a synopsis of the book as provided by the authors.
Synopsis
This is the complete update for Flex 3 of the best-selling "Programming Flex 2", the definitive introduction to Flex for developers. The authors retain the aim of the original book - to provide a fundamental conceptual understanding of what Flex is and how it works - while expanding their coverage of real-world examples, including complete code samples. This book fills in the gaps of the official Flex documentation and helps developers get comfortable quickly with Flex 3.
