I hear about Eclipse 4.0 roadmap, and a new collaboration between Eclipse and Microsoft... and this will make a new collaboration between around 100 companies with Microsoft... now we have Sun.. collaborate with Microsoft for project Tango...I dont know the status of this Tango dancing....when will JCP do a collaboration, are Sun only = JCP?
If we see the Netbeans vs Eclipse battelfield, this look like Sun vs 100companies inside Eclipse battlefield... which we know Oracle, IBM, SAP, RedHat, and several cool small companies like Instantion, Code Gear (Borland) also part of Eclipse.
a Sun centered development model like Netbeans vs community model.. i feel this look like .NET vs Java, where Java backed by JCP... and JCP's JSR with namespace java.sun.com..
I feel this is like a cycle that smilar model, a community movement, but have a control...
I am a Apache lover, a mithocracy model.. which for me is the success project in opensource world... We here also a company that have opensource project or an opensource project with company backed... feel that we must control the market, and we must get the market to survive and lead... in another hand we must create a equal level community, where in several case there are several member of the community that want to become the leader in the movement.. and we can find several political issue to get the market, because there are also several company that never want to contribute but want to lead the movement.. or an activitst that want to become a leader with his own style..
everyone have their model... and eclipse is the model with collaobration of companies, a JCP style...
for me, JCP vs .NET happen in the SDK Platform, and now Netbeans vs Eclipse is look like that .. but the difference between the JCP vs .NET is .NET = propietary. So this is a second generation war, opensource Sun center IDE vs Eclipse with 100 companies backed....
I am waitng Eclipse 4.0 with community request like JCP did with JCP 2.5,remembered the Jason Hunter complain about JCP....
The weakness of Eclipse, because it is SWT engine, the Swing development is not as cool as Netbeans.. 
we need to add insantiation.. Swing Designer.. but it is not eclipse's family it is a commercial plugins for eclipse.
